Walking down the garden path the other day, something caught my eye. Sitting on a cleome leaf halfway to my car was a moth. A wondrous pink and ivory fringed beauty.
And I thought about how many times I had cursed the caterpillars this year- eating holes in my apple and maple trees... the leaves on my flowers fraught with holes. I'm sure this little guy contributed to all of that and more. I googled him :) He can be quite a pest when he and his friends get together in their infancy :)
What a reward I got in the end though, walking to the car on a cloudy stressful day... a burst of unexpected natural beauty. We'd come full circle, this little guy and me. Once the cause of my dismay, now the cause of my joy.
So today, I will try to see the beauty in the torn apple leaves and the holes in my salvia ... because you never know when the little pest that's nibbling away might just turn into a beautiful butterfly (er, moth, but you know what I mean) ;)

Happy Monday friends! I hope it's full of unexpected joys!
