Dear Mom,
Last year, I wrote you a post about all the things that you are and the things that you do.
So this year, I wanted to make you feel good again too.
But how was I going to beat being that deep and real?
Letting the internet know that I got a great deal.
I can't beat that post, If I'm being quite honest.
So I thought, maybe, perhaps, I would write you a sonnet.
But the words wouldn't rhyme and the pentameter was a mess.
And it seemed like this year, it would be a real test,
To come up with the words, That would show you just how I feel.
Knowing you've got my back, year after year.
So I started to speak in a Seussian tone, but it didn't quite seem like a successful endeavor.
Like I could go on and on, and it wouldn't get anywhere. Ever.
So Mom, this year, I think, I will just simply say,
Thank you for being there day after day.
For answering phone calls and sending me cute facebook stickers.
For chatting and laughing and calming my jitters.
For forming a bond that will last and will last,
For the fact that you would do anything. I just have to ask.
Thank you, mom, for being my friend.
Now, you have come to the end,
Of a very bad poem.
I hope that it gave you smile and did not make you groan.

Love from your little girl
(who has always been just a little bit silly).
I hope that you have a beautiful Mother's Day.
Really.
xoxo,
Julia
