Tree gets the coveted FIVE squeals. Lucy loved it, the illustrations are GORGEOUS, the rhymes are pleasant, the pages are interactive, it's educational, and it actually made Lucy squeal. You can't ask for more in a children's book than being enjoyable, educational and pretty as well.
Lucy has loved owls since she was tiny, so this book was destined to be favorite. There is an owl in the tree and Lucy loves him. She is also currently obsessed with bees, so when a bunch of them appear midway through the story, they elicited squeals of joy.
Mama loved it for all of the same reasons Lucy did. There is so much to see as you flip through the pages and the story progresses through the seasons. Details include, a spider spinning his web, a snail slowly moving across the bottom of the page, and a pair of birds building a nest, laying eggs, and finally leaving the nest for the winter. The book provides endless opportunities for discussion about the illustrations but also larger concepts like season, ecosystems, and life cycles.
Tree is an amazing book that makes an excellent addition to any child's library.
I love incorporating the books we are reading with the toys that are displayed in Lucy's play space. Here's a few that I think would compliment the book perfectly. A tree block set with 14 pieces is perfect for "planting" an entire forest with your little one, or how about a gorgeous forest animal play set that includes many of the animals in the story, or finally, a gorgeous wooden forest that celebrates the changing seasons.
I hope you love wooden toys as much as we do! Some of the links above are affiliate links.
