Valentine's Day is coming! I've been introducing hearts, red, pink, and glitter into many of our daily activities and it's fun to see where it is taking us.
One of my favorite things to do is whip up a plain batch of home made dough and let Lucy decide what to do with it. This week, we skipped dye and added sparkles and I think it might just be the prettiest dough we've ever made!
I started by laying out an invitation for Lucy to explore. Some of our favorite dough pounders and rolling pins, along with some small containers of our favorite chubby glitter, extra fine glitter, and sequins. It didn't take very long for Lucy to start dumping glitter and mixing it into the dough.
We quickly learned that the sequins don't actually stay in the dough like glitter but Lucy had fun kneading the dough and watching the sequins fall out one by one.
We are obsessed with our new sparkly Valentine's Day dough and can't wait to take it out and make some heart "cookies" this week!
I have tried many, many, dough recipes but my favorite by far is this:
2 Cups of Flour
2 Tbsp of Oil (I use vegetable)
1/2 Cup of Salt
2 Tbsp Cream of Tartar
1 1/2 Cup Boiling Water
Mix the ingredients while the water boils. Then, mix the dry ingredients with the boiling water (careful! it's hot!). Next, add food coloring to the dough if you want. Gel works best but liquid works too (wear gloves if you don't want rainbow hands!).
Easy peasy, I promise!
