A few weeks back, I tried a new invitation to play in the sensory bin and it was so much fun that Lucy couldn't even wait until she was dressed and fed to get started. She took one look in the sensory bin and got to work, still wearing her favorite santa nightgown.
I froze her arctic animals in giant ice cubes and laid them out. I also created a sparkly ocean using our favorite chubby glitter and blue food dye for her to melt the animals. She was having a ton of fun, but her hands got cold pretty quickly, so I added some bowls of warm water. She kept coming back all day to play with this setup. I had two trays (six each), and kept one in the freezer until the afternoon.
I laid out a few different tools for Lucy to experiment with, but by far, she liked our strainer spoon the most.
She now begs to "rescue" animals from the ice daily. It's super easy to put together and is great for independent play and experimentation.
