We love water play and lately we have been trying a ton of different activities involving ice (both indoors and outdoors). This week, we are celebrating Valentine's Day, so I decided to make the sensory table extra pink and extra sparkly.
Let's start the post with a few shots of the ice cube trays before they went into the freezer. I used giant silicon ice cube trays for pom poms. I sprinkled a few pink/white pom poms into each slot, filled them with water, and put them in the freezer (not pictured). I filled mini honeycomb shaped trays with heart shaped gem stones, plastic hearts and glitter. Finally, I finished the prep with heart shaped trays sprinkled with heart shaped glitter.
In order to keep the ice cubes sparkling from top to bottom I filled them in three steps. I started with glitter and hearts in the empty trays, then filled the trays half way and sprinkled more glitter. After I finished filling the trays, I sprinkled a little more glitter on top.
I was so excited to wake up and pop the ice cubes out of the trays. They were just as pretty as I had hoped!
Lucy was thrilled and got right to work!

It didn't take long for her to notice the condiment bottle filled with warm water and she was EXCITED!
In addition to the sensory bins, we used white serving trays to melt the ice cubes.
The resulting water was super pretty and we'll be playing with it again tomorrow! Sorting, dumping, straining and anything else she can think of!
