Raise your hand if you like Kinetic Sand! It's one of our favorite things and this week, there's been a treasure hunt in the sensory bin. Lucy has loved digging and digging to pull out all of the coins mixed into the magical substance. Sometimes we use shovels, sometimes we use tweezers and others, we just use our hands but no matter what tools we use, it's tons of fun!
It's a super simple activity to set up and can be set up again in a moment. We love it so much it's lasted all week and we'll definitely be playing with coins and kinetic sand again soon!
The buried treasure consisted of coins, sequins and glass gems. I laid down half the kinetic sand in the sensory bin laid down some of the treasure and covered it up with the rest of the kinetic sand. Then I also pressed some of the remaining treasure into the top of the sand to pique lu's interest, put a few diggint tools out and left the sensory bin for her to find.
It didn't take long for her to start collecting treasure from the bins.
She had so much fun digging through the sticky sand to find every single piece! And then we did it again and again and again! It's a must try, super simple activity, that every child will find interesting.
