Washing stations are some of our favorite things to do and can often end up in hours of independent play. Here's a recent one, although we have washed EVERYTHING in our sensory bin (more blog posts to come, I am sure!) This summer, Lucy has become obsessed with colored foam in the sensory bin. Sometimes, it becomes a washing station, and sometimes we just have fun mixing colors. It's a great outdoor activity and we set up in the driveway so it all just washes away when we are finished!
We use a blender to make our colored foam. I fill it about a quarter of the way with water, squirt a whole lotta dish soap in there, let Lucy pick a color and then MIX! Be careful, if you use too much water, it will get VERY messy! We do two or four different colors depending upon how many bins we are playing with (2 colors per bin)
Then we pour it out in the sensory bin (one pitcher at a time) and ENJOY!
And anothe color scheme Lucy wanted to try. The sky is the limit and it never gets boring because you can keep trying different combinations!
