Lucy LOVES dice and we use them a lot for open ended "math" games. She loves counting and adding so games like this can last half the morning. Two dice is a super simple way to introduce math conceptions without pressure. Put out two or three different items (we used hearts and gems this time) and you can play with addition, introduce subtraction, or just have fun rolling the dice and counting.
I don't believe in pushing letters or numbers on children until they express a natural interest. Lucy has been interested for as long as I can remember so we introduced dice fairly early on. Above all, the dice game is a GAME. It's a relaxed and easy way to introduce math concepts in a simple way. We hope you have fun playing!
Lucy also loves loose parts, so we played with plastic hearts and gems long after the dice were put away.

Introduce more dice, for more fun!
