What to do with leftover Easter egg Dye

“Colors are the smiles of nature - Leigh Hunt”

We dyed Easter eggs on Saturday. We dyed the first batch of 12 with PAAS and next, we'll be doing some with natural dye during the week. We can't wait!

After the fun was over, we were left with lots of dye. I didn't want to waste it, so we saved it and decided to create something pretty. We tried dyeing rice with it and the color came out great and the rice doesn't smell like vinegar. It's a win!

We started by filling a take out container with rice.

Next, we chose our color.

Third, Lucy poured the color into the takeout container.

Pop the top on and shake, shake, shake!

Finally, dry the rice on a baking sheet!

Super simple and it comes out SO pretty! We like to use dyed rice in the sensory bin and for art projects.

You can also dye cooked pasta for the sensory bin, make colored foam by adding soap in the blender, or make tie dyed fabric. The sky is the limit!

What will you do with it?
