We love buttons! Especially buttons that are bright, beautiful and come in fun shapes! Our favorite bag of buttons is filled with all shape in all colors and we have so much fun with them!
This button search and sort activity was a HUGE hit! She played by herself and then we played together by taking turns. And best of all? It's super easy to set up!
First, I sorted the buttons so that there was one of each color in each shape. How pretty are they?

Then I traced them on paper with color coordinated pencil.

Next, I poured rice on top of the buttons.

As soon as she saw the tray, she knew just what to do! She grabbed the tweezers and got to work!

Carefully placing each button she found on the "key" I had created the night before.

It was so pretty once she'd found all the buttons! She had so much fun, we played again as a team!

This activity is great for a myriad of reasons. It's fine motor practice with tweezers, it's color and shape practice. It teaches patience and perseverance but most of all, it's just fun. Lucy love searching for objects in the sensory bin so this was a great evolution from some other activities. Let us know in the comments if you plan on trying it! We'd love to hear from you!
